Compressed biogas as an alternative fuel in India

The six projects are intended to convert organic biomass into compressed biogas (CBG), providing an alternative fuel source. A structured value chain for procuring agricultural residues is also expected to create additional income opportunities for farmers.

The lenders needed a reliable basis for assessing the technical and financial conditions of the six projects. This included capacities, feedstock availability, production processes, storage and gas transmission, as well as utilities, environmental considerations, project costs and financing.

Dorsch Consult (India) Private Ltd. prepared technical and financial assessments of the six CBG projects for the lenders. The team reviewed locations, implementation conditions, the feedstock base, and gas and briquette production processes. It also analysed working capital, production costs, term loans and the means of finance.
